On 20 May 2016 the Faculty of International Relations provided a meeting of IR department academic staff, other departments’ representatives and university administration with the German delegation (representatives of the German Bundestag and the Representation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Kazakhstan). The meeting’s organizer was a resource professor of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, professor of the IR and IE department Movkebayeva Galiya. Professor Doctor of Technical Sciences Dagmar Schipanski, former Thuringia Minister of Science, Research and the Arts, former President of the Landtag, a board member of the CDU presented a lecture on the theme: “Scientific-research centers under universities" which aroused great interest. There were some questions asked by professors Augan Malik, Gubaidulina Mara, Ayupova Zaure and Movkebayeva Galiya.

According to the lecture of Professor Sipanski there are about 800 research institutions receiving government funding, as well as various research and innovation centers owned by industrial concerns in Germany. Particular emphasis in the lecture was made on the fact that the Federal Government and state governments have created and implemented Exzellenzinitiative, a program to support elite universities. The main task is to coordinate and support long-term research projects, as well as developing and maintaining interdisciplinary dialogue. Created communities and clusters are designed to combine industrial and academic centers’ projects in the field of research and innovation. After the lecture, the delegation held a meeting with the university authority, where the representatives of the German side expressed its intention to continue the cooperation with the university, and the parties have designated specific measures and priorities for the intensification of the partnership.
