On December 23, 2020, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, in cooperation with the Department of Middle East and South Asia and the Turan-Iran Research Center, held an international scientific conference "Abai and Turkic-Persian Poets" in an online format, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the philosopher Abai Kunanbayev.

The conference discussed the personal and the poetic image of Abai Kunanbayev and innermost thoughts of his soul. The main goal was to inspire not only Kazakhs who love Abai, but also the intelligentsia of other countries. The conference was attended by scientists from near and far abroad. In particular, the event was attended by state and cultural, educational and public figures from a number of countries, such as Kazakhstan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Speakers of the conference shared their valuable ideas based on facts and arguments.

We hope that the international scientific conference "Abai and Turkic-Persian Poets" brought together scientists from several countries and served as an incentive to strengthen scientific, cultural and literary relations between the countries.
