Within the framework of the Green Campus program, 1st year doctoral students of KazNU held an open educational hour for students of the specialty "Hydrology" in order to assess the current state, rational use and protection of water resources. During the educational hour, information on the state, water supply and main problems of water resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan was presented. In addition, data on the types and functions of water resources monitoring were provided. At present, the state institutions "Kazhydromet" and "Kazselezashchita" are active in order to monitor the country's water resources, forecast, and prevent hydrological hazards. About the main functions and tasks of these state institutions, doctoral students working in these institutions shared their experience. According to the employees of the state institution "Kazhydromet", there are 352 hydrological posts in the country that control water resources. They carry out such types of observations as water temperature and level, measurement of water permeability, ice phenomena, precipitation, height and density of snow cover. As a result of observations, the main problems of water resources are determined and ways of their solution are outlined. During the educational hour, having told about the ways to solve these problems, all those present were called to the protection and rational use of water resources.

Water is one of the most essential resources for humanity. Therefore, sustainable development of water resources is the key to a bright future for our generations.
