Open curatorial hour "Goals of low-carbon development"

On October 17, 2023, an open curatorial hour "Goals of low-carbon development" was held for 1st-year students of the specialty "Ecology". The event was organized by senior teachers of the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Development Khamitova K.K. and Mukhitdinov A.M.

The purpose of the open lesson was to discuss the development of a low-carbon policy as one of the measures to combat climate change. Students and teachers launched a dialogue on air quality management, Kazakhstan's transition to a low-carbon economy to achieve SDG 13 "Combating climate change". Students get acquainted with the principles of the "Strategy for achieving carbon neutrality of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2060". This Strategy sets ambitious goals to reduce carbon emissions to zero and defines the necessary innovative technological solutions. The curatorial hour allowed students to draw their own conclusions about the need to achieve zero carbon emissions in the shortest possible time.
