"Gareth Dunlop's songs, the musisian from Nothern Ireland"
On October the 10th, 2022, the members and participants of the “English Club of Songs Lovers” held the first meeting of the Club. The Senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages – G.A. Mussanova organized the event. The first lesson and the theme of the event was devoted to the singer and musician Gareth Dunlop from Northern Ireland. The members of the Club were the 1st year students of the Faculty of Law.
The leader of the Club G.A. Mussanova welcomed the audience and participants of the first event of the English Club. At the first meeting of the Club, the members mostly communicated in English. Within the framework of the Club meeting, reports and a presentation of the participants on the topic of the event were made, they sang Gareth Dunlop’s song «How Far This Road Goes». Students talked about the author, his personal life, early career, famous albums and did grammatical and lexical analysis of the song. The following club members prepared slides, made reports and presentations on the topics below:
1) Smailova Dilnaz- “Biography of the singer and his early career”
2) Tursyn Daryn - “Personal life”
3) Shonzhar Damir - “Famous albums of Gareth Dunlop”
4) Tursyn Daryn and Serikbai Imangali explained grammar and vocabulary of the song.
At the end of the club meeting, students performed interesting grammar exercises and answered the questions from the audience. All the participants and the audience of the English Club took part in the first meeting with a pleasure. The event passed in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The first meeting of the Club brought together students who strive to improve their speaking skills, and their knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary by listening to English songs. Also the member students actively participated in the event having demonstrated a good competence of English language. The leader of the “Club of English Song Lovers” note the good work of the members: perfectly executed presentations, its design, technical support of the event. At the end of the event, the leader of the Club thanked the students for their active participation.
