Graduate students of “Foreign Language: two foreign languages” defended Action Research projects within the discipline “Action Research” for EFL teachers. All ten students successfully passed the projects on various topics in order to improve their teaching practices. Action research is a dynamic and participatory inquiry that not only enhances professional development but also contributes to the improvement within classroom. During the semester, the students studied how to conduct Action Research and implement it to their teaching practices.

Students’ opinions about the course:

S1: “I find the course of Action Research very useful for future teachers as it improves our teaching instruction and can positively impact on our teaching experience as well as students’ performance. It can be difficult at the start, but eventually it develops your researching skills and reflection on your practices.

S2: “My action research experience has been a multifaceted journey of self-discovery, learning, and growth. The exposure to different research types and methods, coupled with the hands-on experience of conducting an action research project, has equipped me with a set of skills that extend beyond the realm of academia.

Action Research has several benefits for English teachers. Firstly, it fosters a reflective teaching approach, encouraging educators to critically analyze their instructional practices and adapt them to suit students' needs effectively. Secondly, it promotes professional growth by providing opportunities for ongoing learning and development within the classroom context. Thirdly, it enhances teacher-student collaboration, as teachers involve students in the research process, empowering them to take ownership of their learning. Lastly, Action Research allows teachers to contribute to the broader educational community by sharing their findings and insights, thus enriching the field of English language teaching. The instructor of the course is Zhambylkyzy Marina, the associate professor of the department “Turkology and language theory”.
