XXI Meeting of COMSATS Coordinating Council

(3-4 April 2018, Almaty, Kazakhstan)

21st Meeting of COMSATS Coordinating Council is to be held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on April 3 to 13. The meeting is organized in joint cooperation of Al-Farabi KazNU and the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South «COMSATS».

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University – is the only of the CIS universities that is a member of the authoritative international intergovernmental organization COMSATS, which makes the University COMSATS’ Center of Excellence in Kazakhstan. Membership in the organization enables KazNU’s participation in international scientific and educational projects. It is important to note that the 21st meeting of COMSATS Coordinating Council is to be held in a CIS state for the first time.

COMSATS Coordinating Council includes directors and heads of 21 International Scientific and Technical Centers from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Council meets once per year to take decisions on matters related to the membership of the Network. It also serves as the controlling body that approves the programmes and budget of the Network and the Secretariat, makes rules and regulations governing its own procedures.

21st Coordinating Council is to be held within the framework of a special, KazNU branded scientific event – V anniversary International Farabi Readings.

The meeting is to be attended by more than 50 foreign renowned experts in various fields of activity foreign experts in the fields of science and technology, including the heads of leading research institutes in respective regions. During the meeting, reports on activities and progress in promoting STPs in member countries to be given, as well as guidelines for further growth and ways to strengthen the weak links to be defined.
