April 5-6, 2016, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, International Organization of Turkic culture (TURKSOY), Administration of Eskişehir city (Turkey), Institute of philosophy, political science and religious studies and the Kazakhstan Philosophy Congress within the framework of the III INTERNATIONAL FARABI READINGS will hold INTERNATIONAL FARABI FORUM “AL-FARABI AND MODERN AGE”, dedicated 25th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Khoja Ahmed Yasavi year under the auspices of UNESCO, Yusuf Balasaghuni year under the auspices of TURKSOY.

In the history of culture of Central Asia, Kazakhstan and the entire East peoples, in the history of World Science and culture an important place belongs to a genial native of Farab (Otyrar city, South Kazakhstan) Abu-Nasr Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Ibn Tarkhan Ibn Uzlag Al-Farabi At-Turki (870-950), who was a prominent thinker, scientist, an all-round scholar and philosopher.

Interest in the creative heritage of the great thinker of the East is huge all over the world, including Kazakhstan. Proof of this is the proposal for the joint study of Al-Farabi’s creativity by the higher educational and scientific institutions and scientists from Turkey, Spain, Finland, France, the United States, Iran, Jordan, Afghanistan and other countries.

Currently, the joint efforts of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Society for the study of the Turkic world in the framework of the VII World Forum “Alliance of Civilizations” the UN (UNAOC), which will be held in Azerbaijan in Baku on 25-27 April 2016 will open a special section devoted to al-Farabi, for the dissemination of the heritage of the great Turkic philosopher. During the forum it will be discussed the proposal of Al-Farabi KazNU  to declare 2020 on the level of UNESCO and TURKSOY “year of al-Farabi”, on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the birth of al-Farabi. Launched a joint project of the documentary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Society for Research Turks World under the name “Al-Farabi – philosopher of Civilization” will be completed in early April of this year. It will be presented at the VIIth Global Forum of the United Nations “Alliance of Civilizations”. After the forum, the film will be broadcast on all national TV channels of the countries members of the Alliance.

Al-Farabi KazNU is today the first and only university in the education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is awarded a special diploma of the authoritative international agency ThomsonReuters “For outstanding achievements in science in 2011”. The position of the university in the ranking of QS – 275 place. According to the results of researches of known international organization “GreatValueColleges” al-Farabi KazNU was among 50 most technologically advanced universities in the world, it had taken the 31 place in the rank. Al-Farabi KazNU was entrusted to lead the global hub of United Nations Academic Impact (UN Academic Impact ) on sustainable development. Position University in Webometrics ranking in 2014 – 3670/1711 place. It was announced on the extension of the status of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as the Hub for Sustainable Development of the United Nations Academic Impact Programme (UNAI) for another two years 2016-2018. Extension of Al-Farabi KazNU as the Hub of the United Nations Programme on sustainability is a powerful generator for combining the intellectual and academic potential of scientists and students of universities of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

Within the framework of the decade of International Farabi Readings on various branches of science are held the scientific-theoretical, scientific-ractical, scientific-methodical online conferences, the International Student Forum, round tables and seminars, International conference of students and young scientists “World of Farabi”, contest of innovative projects, marks the day of science.

Annual International scientific-practical Conference “Farabi Readings” is designed to combine domestic and foreign scientists, study the heritage of al-Farabi; spiritual, historical and philosophical foundations of contemporary society; to ensure integration of science and education, improve the innovative scientific-educational process at the University.

International Farabi Forum “Al-FARABI AND MODERN AGE” is intended to become a new platform for dialogue and cooperation of scientists around the world. The main objective of this event is to give new impetus to the development of science in general, based on numerous research areas of the creative heritage of the great thinker al-Farabi. The participants will discuss a wide range of topical issues relating to the integration of science and education, improving the spiritual and moral and intellectual culture in contemporary society, the objectives of the strategy Kazakhstan-2050 for the building welfare society joint by the national idea – “Мәнгілік Eл” (“Eternal country”).

The forum will include a presentation of the journal “KazNU BULLETIN. Religious studies series”.

Within the framework of Al-Farabi Forum it is planned to organize cultural and ethnographic tour «Cradle of Turkic civilization». The program includes visits to cultural and historical monuments of Zhambyl and South Kazakhstan regions.
