Foreign students studying at the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners traditionally take an active part in the annual student conference. The 2020-2021 academic year, despite the difficulties of teaching Kazakh and Russian as foreign languages in an online format, was no exception.On April 7, under the guidance of the teachers of the department, the breakout sessions of the XXVII International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Students in Science - the intellectual potential of the future", held within the framework of the VIII International Farabi Readings, were held.

The conference was held in three sections, depending on the language of the reports: Kazakh, Russian, and English sections. The geography of the conference is very representative: 43 participants from 11 countries (Kazakhstan, China, South Korea, Singapore, Mongolia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine,   Turkmenistan, Morocco).  A total of 40 reports were submitted. Young scientists from 11 universities took part in the conference this academic year: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kharkiv National Road University(Ukraine), Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, Abai Kazakh national Pedagogical University, Nur-Mubarak University, Kazakh University of Engineering and Technology, Zhejiang University (China), Kabul University (Afghanistan), Kandahar University (Afghanistan), Institute of Higher Education (Afghanistan), Sheikh Zayed University (Afghanistan).

The Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners for more than 35 years, is the main division of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which trains foreign students for further admission to universities in Kazakhstan.
