Scientific Library of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the cultural and spiritual center for students, faculty and educational support staff. It has textbooks, monographs, remarkable examples of literature, rare books, sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, more than 200 thousand copies of periodicals.

Scientific Library’s fund has about 2 ml. copies of: 439 500 copies in Kazakh language,85 000 copies in foreign languages ​​, which is annually updated with new editions. Readers in the Research Library are about 19 thousand people, it's not only students but also faculty, researchers, teaching and support staff, other employees of the university.

Scientific Library is a wide network of subscriptions and reading rooms, located in academic buildings. Number of seats in the halls is over 1100. Each year, Research Library registers approximately 900 000 visits, delivers up to 1.9 million copies of books, magazines and newspapers. Issued more than 700 names of Kazakh and Russian periodicals. Scientific Library strives to its maximum potential wealth of information was used by readers.

Library reading rooms are very popular among students, the halls are well equipped with auxiliary funds, represented by various periodicals.
