Scientific Research Work

Research work of the Department is carried out in Research Institute of Experimental and Theoretical Physics (IETP) , the National Nano Laboratory of Open Type( NNLOT ), which combines strength and intellectual research and production base of the four departments of the faculty . Scientific work is coordinated by the Scientific and Technical Council of the Institute .

Scientific Research Institute of Experimental and Theoretical Physics (IETP)

IETP was founded on April 10, 1992 in Kazakh National University in accordance with the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR from July 24, 1990 № 295. May 27, 2003 In accordance with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 17, 2003 № 37 Institute was reorganized into a state enterprise subsidiary Kazakh National University.

The first director of the Research Institute in the Republic of Kazakhstan was an academician of NAS RK , Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor T.A. Kozhamkulov , at that time - the dean of the Faculty of Physics of Kazakh State University , who initiated and established the institution . Relying on the " Soviet science " and the principles of its organization at the time, ie powerful intellectual potential , backed by the prestige of science at the state level , IETP is able to maintain and develop scientific schools that were formed in the physics department for decades ( since the formation of the Kazakh State University ) , repositioned in the new world, to survive the transition period , to preserve the structure , personnel, but qualitatively restructure , changing principles of organization and financing in accordance with the requirements of the time .

In 1993, the Acting Director was Academician of NAS RK , Professor Baimbetov F.B., from 1993 to 1995 . director was Prof. Drobyshev A.S., from February 1996 to April 2000 - Prof. Tazhibayeva I.L. From April to June 2000 Acting Director was Dr. Ibraev B.M., from June 2000 to November 2006 the Institute was directed by Prof. Ramasanov T.S. and from November 2006 to present the director of the institute is Dr. Lavrischev O.A.

National Nanotechnological Laboratory of Open Type (NNLOT)

In accordance with Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 21, 2007, № 1258 "Some questions of the Republican State Enterprise on the right of business Al-Farabi Kazakh National University" about creation "National Nanotechnological Laboratory of Open Type " (NNLOT) at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University", at the University was organized "National Nanotechnological Laboratory of open type"

NNLOT at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is registered in the Ministry of Justice in Almaty July 4, 2008 as a daughter state-owned enterprise on the right of business "National Nanotechnological Laboratory of open type" of RSE on RB Al -Farabi Kazakh National University of MES RK.

The purpose of NNLOT activity is planning, organization and carrying out nanotechnological researches, assisting to faculty of Al-Farabi KazNU in the preparation of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff, as well as implementation of research results and development works in corresponding branches of industry to ensure rise, stabilization and economic diversification of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since 2008, as the first director of NNLOT was approved academician of NAS RK, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Shamshi Sharipovich Sarsembinov. Under the leadership of Sh.Sh. Sarsembinov statute was designed, were defined goals and tasks of NNLOT, as well as the main development directions of nanotechnology in Kazakhstan. Academician of NAS RK Sh.Sh. Sarsembinov was a founder in the development in Kazakhstan of fundamental investigations of the properties of disordered semiconductors, chalcogenide glassy semiconductors and nanostructured amorphous diamond-like carbon thin films.

From August 12, 2008 to December 28, 2010 the director of NNLOT was Aleksandr Pavlovich Ryaguzov candidate of physical-mathematical sciences, student of Academician of NAS RK Sh.Sh. Sarsembinov. The main achievements of A.P. Ryaguzov are the carried out researches of structure, electronic properties and nanoheteromorphism in chalcogenide glassy semiconductors prepared by different methods, the identification of structural memory in arsenic sulfide, as well as in researches of the structure and properties of amorphous diamond-like carbon films modified by silver and bismuth nanoclusters.

Since December, 2010 to the present time the director of NNLOT is Gabdullin Maratbek Tulepbergenovich, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, PhD. Gabdullin MT is a specialist in the field of physics of nonideal plasmas and plasma technologies.

Laboratory of engineering specialization (LEP)

Laboratory of engineering specialization (LEP ) of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan from June 20, 2007 , by order of MES from March 15, 2007 at number 120 , " Determination of higher education institutions, in which laboratories of engineering profile are been opening" and under the order of the rector of Kazakh National University number 20 of "02" in February 2009 "On creation of the laboratory engineering profile ."

LEP is a subdivision of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and is part of the physical and technical cluster and functions in order to achieve the advanced level of research and development activities , as well as the efficient use of material, technical and human resource capacity of LEP .

Today at the Laboratory for Engineering Profile (LEP ) researches in fields of nanotechnology and new materials , information technology and telecommunications are carried out.
