This period was characterized by considerable successes of the USSR in science and technology, a breakthrough in the space was made, and the first in the history of the planet astronaut Yuriy Gagarin was launched into orbit from the land of Kazakhstan, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

Now the university found a solutions for fundamentally new challenges associated with the creation of a modern and well-equipped educational-methodical, scientific research and social infrastructure of the university, the strengthening of its relations with the international education system. Number of ew buildings and dormitories began to grow, the first computational center in the country was established on the basis of the Department of Mathematics.

But most importantly - as a result of this stage a unique educational-research and residential complex named KazSUgrad was created - its characteristics are not inferior to the campuses of leading universities in the world.
