The principalship of Askar Zakariyevich - is one of the most remarkable chapters of history of KazNU. Once the only university in the country in urgently needed new buildings, libraries, departments. A great place in the foothills of the Alma-Ata was found. But the extensive plans of KazGUgrad laborers broke against stone arguments of opponents: enthusiasts group, among whom was Askar Zakarin, defended its project at all levels, dismissing doubts and objections of pessimists in a well-argued manner. Student City must exist! And so the construction of new academic buildings and student dormitories began. The first computational center in the country was established on the basis of the Department of Mathematics. On "Ural-2", "Ural-11" ECM and other machines the future generation of programmers and IT-specialists grind away at science.

Askar Zakarin - is an author of books named "The Kazakh SSR. The story of the seven-year plan", "Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov", "From the life of the great mathematicians", "Geometriya negіzderі", "On the fundamental ideas of modern geometry" and many others.

He tirelessly repeated to his students: "Mathematics - is the queen of sciences, it does not tolerate an approximate and negligence. Therefore, a scientist-mathematician should be extremely careful and attentive, so not to deviate from the truth. Professor A. Zakarin brought up a generation of young scientists, has always encouraged the initiative on scientific debates, a non-standard way of seeing things, the ability to defend their point of view. For him, as for the venerable scholar, it was important opinion on the issue as colleagues on the scientific community, as well as graduate students. The heuristic gift, the gift of the Master lives in his followers. Askar Zakarin always remembered: it is important not only that a contribution was made by you, it is important - who will run it after you.

It is not surprisingly that the quality of the business of the scientist were in demand also at the state level. In spring 1955, he became Minister of Education of the Kazakh SSR, and in 1958 - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kazakh SSR.

The Remembrance Day of Professor Askar Zakarin Zakarevich was held at the Department of Mechanics and Mathematics under the program of events, devoted to the 75th anniversary of the Kazakh National University of Al-Farabi.
