During a working visit to the People's Republic of China, as part of a delegation headed by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev gave an interview to local TV channel, presenting the achievements of the country's leading university and announcing the upcoming opening of a branch of the Northwestern Polytechnical University in KazNU.

In an interview the head of the university focused on the achievements of the leading university, which occupies 150^th place in the global QS WUR ranking, which was awarded the status of a research university by a Government decree and spoke about the recognition of KazNU in the global educational space.

"In the near future, a branch of the Northwestern Polytechnical University will be opened on the basis of KazNU. We are pleased to participate in this large-scale and promising project, cooperating with one of the best universities in China. The branch will train students from Kazakhstan and Central Asia under bachelor's and master's degree programs in engineering, electronic sciences and technologies, IT. The graduates of the program will be awarded diplomas from two prestigious universities," Zhanseit Tuimebayev shared the news in the interview.

Answering journalists' questions, the rector also noted that best conditions have been created for teaching staff of KazNU to be engaged in science. Today, the university occupies a leading position in the number of scientific projects and publications in the country. The university has research institutes and research centers, a technology park, a cluster of engineering and high-tech technologies and commercialization office.

"The University today aims to integrate into the world scientific space, which will be carried out through the participation of KazNU scientists in international teams based on the world's leading scientific and laboratory complexes. It is planned to increase the number of scientific internships of scientists in order to develop international collaboration. The implementation of these and other large–scale measures will contribute to the internationalization of scientific activities and further integration of KazNU into the international research space" the rector stressed.

The working visit of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to the People's Republic of China as part of the delegation of Kazakhstan continues. During the visit, it is planned to visit a number of universities in China and sign cooperation agreements.
