During a working trip to China, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Rector of Northwestern Polytechnic University Song Baowei and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Song Baowei focused on the activities of the Northwestern Polytechnic University, which was founded in 1938. The higher educational institution, which has more than 36 thousand students has educational and research programs in aeronautics, astronautics and marine engineering.Chinese partners expressed their readiness to provide comprehensive assistance, support for promising projects and initiatives to strengthen cooperation between the two universities.

During the meeting, the rectors signed an agreement on expanding cooperation and opening a branch of the Northwestern Polytechnical University on the basis of KazNU. The purpose of the branch is to conduct joint research, trainings and exchange of students and teaching staff and to establish of joint laboratories.

In turn, Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev acquainted the participants with the history and activities of the leading Kazakh university, which has gained extensive experience in mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of science and education with various universities in China. The Rector of KazNU noted that there are 100 innovative projects developed by university scientists. Currently, the work is underway to commercialize these scientific projects.

"I think that within the framework of the agreement we will carry out joint research work in the scientific direction and achieve great success. This initiative will provide vast opportunities for the exchange of experience and training of personnel," Zhanseit Tuimebayev stressed.

During the visit to the educational institution, Zhanseit Tuimebayev got acquainted with the life of the Northwestern Polytechnical University, visited academic buildings, research centers and laboratories.
