The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the memory of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the first Constitutional Court Murat Baymakhanov on the theme "Formation of the Rule of Law and Civil Society in New Kazakhstan: Theory, Practice and Development Prospects".

The conference was attended by leading scientists of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, representatives of state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international and national experts, representatives of civil society, teaching staff and students.

Opening the event, Advisor to the Rector of KazNU, Doctor of Law Yerkin Duissenov read out the welcome letter from the Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev, which states: "Academician Murat Tajimuratovich Baymakhanov tirelessly invested in the formation and development of Kazakhstan as a civilized, legal, democratic state. After Kazakhstan gained its sovereignty, he selflessly worked on the cardinal updating of the legislation of an independent country. The diligence and steadfastness of an outstanding citizen, Academician Murat Tajimuratuly, the height of his spirit will always be an example for the younger generation."

Chairman of the Constitutional Court E. A. Azimova, judge of the Constitutional Court S.F.Udartsev, Dean of the Faculty of Law of KazNU D. L. Baideldinov, deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan U. S. Shapak and others also spoke at the meeting.

The work of the conference continued in special sections, where the works of Academician M.Baymakhanov were discussed.
