The scientific library of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific and practical conference "Al-Farabi in World Culture: Thinker, Philosopher, Scientist" dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, scientist-Farabi scholar Zhakypbek Altaevich Altayev.

The conference covered the main directions of al-Farabi's legacy in the global philosophy, Turkic people and modern Kazakhstan.

A congratulatory letter from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was read out at the meeting. "You (Professor Altayev) laid the foundations of modern Kazakh philosophy and made a great contribution to the in-depth study of Eastern thinkers and scientist Abu Nasr al–Farabi, linking him with modernity," the congratulatory letter of the Head of State reads.  

Congratulatory letters dedicated to the anniversary of Professor Altaev were sent from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Darkhan Kydyrali, Chairmen of National Academies of Sciences, rectors of universities, heads of foreign diplomatic missions and consular institutions, state and public figures and prominent scientists.

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted in his letter the following: "You have studied philosophical science in a new direction and presented your scientific works that are of particular value to the Turkic world. You have combined the history of Kazakh philosophy with world philosophy and formed a theoretical and methodological model for studying national thinking."

Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition of scientific works of Zhakypbek Altayev and a photo exhibition on the theme "Al-Farabi in World Culture: Thinker, Philosopher, Scientist" were organized. The bibliographic collection of Professor Altayev’s works was also introduced: "Classical Philosophy of the Middle Ages", "Philosophy of al-Farabi", "Thinkers of the Islamic World".
