In the framework of the official visit of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan an opening ceremony of a branch of the Al-Farabi  Kazakh National University was held.

The opening ceremony was attended by: RK President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov, Minister of Education and Science of KR Almazbek Beishenaliyev, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev.

After welcoming the distinguished guests, Zhanseit Tuimebayev spoke about the new branch of Kazakh National University. "In the branch of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi in Bishkek training will be conducted on 13 educational programs for bachelor's and master's degrees. The teaching process will be carried out in three languages: Kyrgyz, Russian and English. Upon graduation, graduates will be awarded diplomas from the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The branch can receive up to 250-300 students annually. There are plans to allocate 10 grants of KazNU for gifted children annually. Lessons in the new branch will conduct by only 50 teachers, of which 30 % from Kazakh National University. We will provide a permanent residence for our teachers in Bishkek. They will come and teach classes here on a permanent basis. We also plan to invite our Kyrgyz colleagues to teach at the branch," the university director said.

Also during his speech, Zhanseit Tuimebayev highlighted the achievements of the university in recent years. "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the only university in Kazakhstan and Central Asia that is included in the top 200 best universities in the world. Over 100 foreign professors and scientists from 30 countries teach at the university. Over 40 professors have lectured abroad at universities in Hungary, Germany, Mongolia, France, the USA, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and other countries.

On May 9, 2022, we opened a branch of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi in Turkey, in the city of Istanbul. We also work closely with the higher educational institutions of Central Asia. We have more than 30 agreements on cooperation. Twelve of them are with universities in the Kyrgyz Republic. Today the university also has a significant pool of graduates in the Kyrgyz Republic, who occupy important positions in government agencies and work successfully in all spheres", - said Zhanseit Tuimebayev.

During the event, the Presidents and Ministers toured the new classrooms and toured the book exhibition, as well as the information room and KazNU's stands. Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev gave detailed information on the master plan for the university.

In addition, following the opening ceremony of the KazNU branch, the Presidents of the two countries left an inscription in the Book of Honoured Guests.

Objectives of the Al-Farabi KazNU branch in the Kyrgyz Republic:

Formation of a single Eurasian educational space.

Development of the sphere of educational services according to the needs of the economy of KR and RK in qualified personnel on the basis of constant monitoring of the labor market.

Introduction and implementation of new, demanded by the labor market professional and educational programs of different duration, on additional professional training of specialists in the republics.

Carrying out fundamental and applied research in the directions dictated by the needs of the KR and RK.

Interaction with enterprises, business structures, public authorities, universities, research institutes, training, and research centers.

Creation of a complete system of continuous education as the tool system of preparation and retraining of the qualified experts for the EurAsEC member-states.

Development of material and technical base of information infrastructure of the branch.

It is worth noting, that the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.J.Tokayev following the results of the State visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic S.Zhaparov to the Republic of Kazakhstan on March 2-3, 2021 decided to open the branch "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University" in the Kyrgyz Republic, Bishkek.
