Today, a meeting of the International Scientific Online Forum "Information Space in the Years of Independence" was held in honor of the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Aigap magazine, the 100th anniversary of the Akikat magazine, the 100th anniversary of the Zhas Alash newspaper and "Kazakh radios".

Opening the Forum, Zhanseit Kanseituly Tuimebayev - Chairman of the Board - Rector of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, noted that Kazakhstani journalism has a rich history. Having originated at the end of the nineteenth century, it grew and improved along with the era. We remembered the outstanding editors and journalists who made a colossal contribution to the history of the press: Alikhan Bukeikhanov, Mirzhakyp Dulatov, Gani Muratbaev, Ilyas Zhansugurov, Akhmet Baitursunov and many others. This is the honor and pride of Kazakh journalism.

Within the framework of the large-scale Forum, the deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurtore Zhusup and the deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sautbek Abdrakhmanov made reports, emphasizing the huge role of journalism and its outstanding representatives in the life of the country. Press attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Great Britain Aigerim Seisembayeva spoke about the importance of modern journalism.

Journalism grew along with the country, and media workers managed to carefully preserve those glorious traditions from which they themselves learned and were formed as specialists of the highest standard.

The speakers spoke about the place of modern journalism in society, about the fact that despite the pandemic, journalists work live, delivering truthful information to readers and viewers.

The participants of the forum also emphasized the importance of the Faculty of Journalism of KazNU in the training of professional personnel, including those specialists who today work in the country's media and adequately represent Kazakhstan abroad.

The vast 87-year experience of the country's first journalism faculty has shown that it is here that professionals of the highest standard are trained, who remember and honor their predecessors and are able to accept and reflect any challenges of the time in such a difficult time.
