The «Parasat» trade union of workers of Al-Farabi KazNU held an annual reporting Conference.

Talking about the activities in 2019, the Chairman of the trade union, T.K. Mekebaev, especially emphasized that the solution of the tasks facing the trade unions became possible due to the strengthening of organizational unity, the stability of the staff, the development of information resources, the level of interaction of the trade union organizations of the University’s Departments with the «Parasat» trade union of KazNU’s employees.

Today, 4,396 people are registered with the union, including 183 veterans. They are united in 32 structural divisions. The best trade unionists were named at the Conference.

In 2019, the «Parasat» trade union of workers of Al-Farabi KazNU systematized union activities in two areas:

- ensuring the growth of union membership, which assumes that the University will not have workers deprived of the opportunity to represent their interests, defend their rights in a civilized manner, and maximize the use of professional mechanisms growth, health and recreation, material and social support provided by the trade union.

- the second direction is the clear planning of system work based on the allocation of priority tasks and the consistent implementation of what has been planned. All this became possible thanks to the support of the leadership of KazNU, headed by the Rector Galym Mutanov.

The Chairman recalled that on April 13, 2019, a new Collective Agreement was signed between the employer and the labor collective of KazNU. This important tripartite document is being concluded at KazNU every three years and invariably contains the principles of strict observance of the labor legislation of the Republic, social responsibility of the executive branch, employers and workers, mutual respect and the maximum possible compromise of their interests. The signing of the collective agreement was preceded by the detailed discussion in all divisions.

Each unit is being issued coupons for preferential meals. The trade union Committee created a commission to verify the work of canteens and buffets. Work is underway to organize protected parking lots on the territory of KazNU, to determine discounts for studies for children whose parents work in KazNU.

Among the cultural events, the sports contest - «Health», «Week of Cleanliness», and the contest «Best Yurt» were especially highlighted. As always, the contest «Best in Profession-2019» among the support staff of the University was resonant.

The work with children of University employees has been implementing on a constant basis. On Children’s Day, events were held at the Military Department, Students’ Palace, Biological Museum and the Scientific Library. Before September 1, 211 future first-graders received briefcases, notebooks, pens, pencils, pencil cases, paints and felt-tip pens. On New Year’s Eve, the children attended the play «The Adventures of Superheroes».

An important place in the social policy of the members of the trade union Committee of the «Parasat» trade union is occupied by the organization of summer recreation activities. Places were allocated in the Sports & Health Camp on Issyk-Kul, vouchers for sanatoriums were subsidized, and weekend tours were held.

All Conference delegates praised the work of the Trade Union Committee. Assessment of trade union work was given by B.B. Karibaev - Head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan, Zh.M. Musulmanova - librarian - manager, M. Ospanbaeva - leading specialist of the Department of Physical Education and Sport, E.B. Ayakeshov - Lecturer, Faculty of Philology and World Languages, M.K. Kozhabergenova - leading specialist in the Medical Faculty.

The Chairman of the public association «Kazakhstan branch professional union Parasat of students and employees of educational institutions and scientific and innovative organizations» D.Zh. Zhanataev not only praised the work of the University Trade Union, but also handed to T.K. Mekebaev a medal «Kasipodakka enbegi singen kairatker» from the Territorial Union of Trade Unions «Almaty Union of Trade Unions».

Acting First Vice-Rector Mukhambetkali Burkitbaev, giving an assessment of the activities of the trade union, noted that thanks to the trade union, the University maintains a favorable moral and psychological climate and resolves many acute issues. At this stage in the development of higher education, union work within the University is of great importance. Creating of a healthy moral climate, strengthening the stability of labor relations in a University, and providing legal and judicial assistance are the main tasks in team building.

Only in a team where the union and administration are interested in creating good working conditions for employees, people will feel comfortable and confident.

The motto of the modern university trade union is formed in accordance with the concept of the hearing state, proclaimed by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: A strong Union is a hearing Union!
