A section dedicated to Al-Farabi’s heritage established at the Junaid Zaidi Library, COMSATS University Islamabad

‘Al-Farabi Corner’ opens at the Junaid Zaidi Library, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), following the partnership arrangements, reached in April 3-4, 2018 during the 21st Meeting of COMSATS Coordinating Council between Rector of KazNU Prof. Dr. Galym Mutanov and the Executive Director of The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) Dr. Syed Muhammed Junaid Zaidi. With the purpose of further elaboration on the plan of action to popularize the teaching and philosophy of Great Abu Nasr Al-Farabi in Pakistan and other COMSATS Member States, Mr. Hafiz Abdur Rehman, In-charge of Junaid Zaidi Library, paid an official visit to Al-Farabi KazNU.

A formal meeting with Mr. Mekhment Arslan, the vice rector on internalization and commercialization, was held during Mr. Hafiz Abdur Rehman’s visit, presenting information on ways to promote Al-Farabi’s legacy internationally through the establishment of special Centers in foreign countries.

At a meeting with Dr. Tlekkabul Ramazanov, the vice rector on science and innovation, scientific literature, devoted to the study of treatises of the Great Thinker, was donated on behalf of Al-Farabi KazNU to Mr. Hafiz Abdur Rehman to include in the collection of CUI’s library.

During his stay, the In-charge of Junaid Zaidi Library learned about the activities of Al-Farabi Center, Al-Farabi Museum and Scientific Library, and held meetings with the administration and teaching stuff of the faculty of philosophy and political science and the faculty of oriental studies.

The establishment of an Al-Farabi-dedicated section in Pakistan opens another important milestone not only in popularizing the treasury of Turkic and Kazakh culture through the creative legacy of the Great thinker, but in building greater cooperation in the international scientific and educational space.

Commission on Science and Technology for countries of the South (COMSATS) is an inter-governmental organization, having a membership of 27 member states, including Kazakhstan. Al-Farabi KazNU is the only CIS member of COMSATS since 2015, functioning as a Center of Excellence.
