This semester in Department of the Far East would take place a special course of lectures related to the korean diaspora

In Department of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU named after al-Farabi, would be held a special course of lectures related to Koreans abroad "Koreans of the CIS", with the support of Overseas Korean Foundation of the Republic of Korea.

The lecturers of this special course of lectures are specialists in various spheres about Koreans such as: Professor Kan George, Candidate of Historical Sciences Acting Associate; professor EM N.B., professor Lee Byong Jo, Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper "Koryo ilbo" Kim Konstantin, General Consul of Republic of Korea in Almaty Jeon Seung Min, President of the ACC in Almaty O Sergey, General Director of the Education Fond "New Solutions" Kim Vyacheslav, Former President of the Association of South Korean Small and Medium Enterprises in Almaty Im Jung Hwan. Lectures are held not only in a theoretical form, but also in practice in the form of excursions.

November 18, 2017, within the framework of this special lecture course, an excursion took place in Ushtobe, the first settlement of the deported Koreans. Students, accompanied by professor Lee Byong Jo of Department of the Far East, visited several attractions and memorials. Including students were able to visit the memorial to victims of political repression in the city park, the former Korean theater, the former Korean school named after Dzerzhinsky (the current school named after Koshkarbayev). Students who were on the site of historical events could see, hear and feel the history of the Koreans of Kazakhstan and the CIS.

This special course helps students to form a complete picture of the development and state of the Korean diaspora, to present the way of life and especially the life of the inhabitants of the Korean diaspora in Kazakhstan.
