KazNU has joined the Declaration of the representatives of the world Universities on supporting teaching and sustainable development.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the first University in Kazakhstan and Central Asia that joined the Declaration of representatives of the world’s Universities on supporting teaching and sustainable development. This document was adopted in the course of preparation of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20, which will be held from 20 to 22 June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Now, Master students, PhD students and scholars of KazNU can take part in the events held at the Conference, international studies and projects on sustainable development issues.
Conference Rio+20 is the most prestigious gathering of the leaders of the States, international organizations, academic and research institutions, world’s leading experts who are working on sustainable development and solving problems related to global climate change.
During several years KazNU is working with international organizations and leading international Universities in training professionals on sustainable development. So, since September 2011, jointly with Columbia University, the program MDP / Global Classroom was developed in which the Master and PhD students of KazNU have attended lectures on sustainable development issues. They also work on innovative case studies program on the effect of climate change on development of different regions of Kazakhstan and the CIS.
