On July 19, 2011 at Center for Applied Linguistics and Cross-Cultural Communication of al-Farabi, KazNU visited 20 students and professors of Dongguk University.

The purpose of academic-tourist program - is to introduce the history and traditions of Kazakhstan, possible cooperation between universities and perspectives of the implementation of the academic exchange programs in the future.

Dongguk University provides a world-class education that bridges East and West on many levels. Founded in 1906 by Korea's ecumenically minded Jogye Order, Dongguk remains one of the few Buddhist affiliated universities in the world. Yet its doors have always been open to students and teachers of all faiths and philosophies. Students and professors from around the globe enhance the quality of education on each of Dongguk's four campuses by bringing together dramatically diverse life experiences and cultures in a common educational mission. Graduate and undergraduate students alike are exposed to the latest theories and practical training in every area of university study.

Students of Dongguk University have opportunity to discuss possible cooperation between students and perspectives of the implementation of the academic exchange programs for the students and professors, as well as implementation of a joint research projects.

During the week, on request of students, tutor of High School of Economics and Business Mukasheva S.B. conducted a series of lectures on the history of independence and economic breakthroughs of Kazakhstan. Every day after classes, students tried to visit sights of Almaty - museums, theaters, Republic Square, the skating rink Medeo, Park Kok-Tobe, Charyn Canyon, Big Almaty Lake.

We build links between universities in Kazakhstan and South Korea to strengthen cultural academic exchange. Our projects provide a rich platform for teachers and students to better understand each other’s societies and cultures and prepare them more effectively for life and work in today’s interconnected world.
