In the KazNU. Al-Farabi hosted the International Scientific Forum on the Unification of the Korean Peninsula. The Forum was organized by the Ministry of Association of the Republic of Korea, the Central Asian Consultative Council for the Peaceful and Democratic Association of Korea, the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan, the Almaty Korean National Center and KazNU. Al-Farabi.

The aim of the event is to spread the idea of ​​the need to unite the Korean peninsula through coverage of 80-year history since the beginning of the resettlement of Koreans to former Soviet countries. The scientific forum was actively participated by representatives of governmental and public organizations of Kazakhstan and South Korea, representatives of the Korean diaspora, South Korean citizens in Kazakhstan, professors and students of KazNU.

In the forum, the opening speeches were made by the first vice-rector of KazNU Burkitbayev Mukhambetkali, the chief consul of South Korea Jeong Sung Ming and professor of KazNU Kim Herman. The sides discussed the strengthening of ties, cooperation between Kazakhstan and Korea. Representatives of the Korean consulate noted the special role of Kazakhstan in Korea, and also expressed gratitude to the organizers.
