The Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics implementing the International Project «Enhanced capacity of engineering educators within Kazakhstan universities to teach course content and use novel pedagogical methods to up skill graduates» (Industry Academia Partnership Programme, IAPP\1516\18) financed by Royal Academy of Engineering and Newton Fund. Head of the Project from Kazakhstan side is professor Balakayeva Gulnar Tultayevna. Terms of the project: March 2016 – February 2018. Grant holder is Newcastle University, total amount 50 thousand GBP.

In addition to scientific institutions of UK in the International Project as Industrial partners participated JSC “Almaty Electric Stations” and LLP “Crystal Spring” (Almaty).

The project is primarily guided by the fact that the modern educational environment increasingly involves the use of interactive educational technologies and practices. This is the answer to employers' expectations that the University graduate not only had experience in applying traditional approaches to problem solving, but also the ability to generate and evaluate innovative ideas.

The goal of the Project is to improve the quality of the educational process for students of IT-specialties of Kazakhstan Universities by introducing interactive methods to improve the level of graduates in accordance with requirements of the market.

At the conference today there are leading Kazakhstan universities and scientific organizations, including representatives from the Institute of Information and Computing Technologies of SC MES RK, Nazarbayev University, KazNPU named after Abay, Republican Institute for development of leading and research-pedagogical staff of education system of the republic of Kazakhstan National center for professional development «Orleu», International IT University, EKSU named after Amanzholov, Turan University, Kazakh-German University, Kazakh National Agrarian University, Satpaev University, etc.


Expected results by the end of the project:

1 With the University of Newcastle, a selection of pedagogical practices and Kazakhstan-oriented plans for the implementation of intensive training in engineering disciplines will be developed;

2 Methodological support for the introduction of interactive teaching methods and internship programs for engineering disciplines in English and Russian and were distributed to other Kazakhstan universities in 2016-2017;

3 With the industrial company, practical types of projects and practice internship in 2017 are being developed;

4 Development and introduction of creative pedagogical methods of teaching, case-method in teaching the practice of two Kazakhstan universities in 2017-2018;

5 Dissemination of project results. Seminars, master classes for teachers of regional universities of Kazakhstan 2017-2018.
