February 17, 2017 in the Japanese city of Sapporo, the official opening ceremony of the

VIII Winter Asian Games was held.

Students KazNU Al-Farabi, defending the honor of our elders: skating - Roman Krech, Fedor Mezentsev; Ice Hockey: Aida Olzhabaeva, Meruert Ryspek. The games will be played out 64 sets of medals in 11 sports. Kazakhstan is represented by 116 athletes.

As a result of the performance, the bronze medalists were: the men's team in speed skating, which included the student of KazNU Al-Farabi, the faculty of International Relations - Fedor Mezentsev and the women's ice hockey team, which included students ofKazNU – OlzhabaevaAida, Ryspek Meruert.
