The fight against poverty is a massive challenge

October 17 is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. On this occasion, together with 1st year students of the specialty “Natural and Technogenic Risks”, a discussion was held on this topic and a curator’s hour was held.

According to statistics, almost 50 percent of the world's population say they are unable to meet their daily needs. General poverty is the inability to meet basic needs and maintain a standard of living acceptable in society. According to the Institute of Central Asian Studies, Kazakhstan is classified as an upper-middle income country.

During the facilitation hour, students emphasized that when it comes to poverty, it is not only about the lack of food, clothing or shelter, but also about the need to be able to obtain higher education, medical care and what they want.

Improving people's well-being - our spiritual and natural wealth must be safely passed on from generation to generation.

During the discussion, ethnographer Mashkhur-Zhusip Kopeyuli said: “Poverty has three brothers.” The eldest is stubbornness, the middle is lust, and the youngest is sleep. These three - one at the sail, where will your hand go when one of them presses your tail to the ground, and the other knocks you down and does not let go? “You will retreat from yourself and become a coward,” he said.

In the end, the students said that in our time it is possible to find a source of work and one of our goals is to study, develop and work without succumbing to laziness, as mentioned above.
