The Resource Center for American and Democratic Studies at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was established with the assistance of New School University as part of the “University as a site for democratic governance” project and began its work on June 1, 2004.

The purpose of the Resource Center is:

assistance to scientific and educational institutions in Almaty in providing access to electronic sources of information, including information and scientific resources of the World Wide Web; coordinating research activities in the field of democratization and American studies; assistance in the training of specialists in the field of American studies; improving the methodological support of courses in the history, political system and foreign policy of the United States and leadership of the Student Association of Americanists. The users of the Resource Center are undergraduates, doctoral students, teaching staff of KazNU and other higher educational institutions of the city of Almaty.
