The purpose of the EP

To prepare competitive management specialists for the Tourism Industry, able to work in the changing conditions of the tourism market, with creative thinking and social responsibility, able to professionally organize production activities in the tourism and hospitality industry.

The implementation of the educational program is aimed at shaping the personality of a specialist capable of:

to develop and implement a general strategy for the functioning and development of a tourist enterprise (organization);

apply scientifically grounded methods of forecasting, assessment, planning and risk management in tourism activities;

to put into practice the basic scientific and theoretical knowledge on the economics of tourism, planning and management, the formation of corporate culture;

carry out strategic marketing planning, including the development and implementation of a set of measures to promote the destination's tourism product, increase investment attractiveness;

to raise the level of professional knowledge, to implement a personal educational trajectory.

Educational outcomes

1. To develop and implement a general strategy for the functioning and development of a tourism enterprise (organization), as well as functional strategies (marketing, financial, staffing) that provide change management and its sustainable development in the long term, to ensure competitiveness to the tourism market.

2. Predict the development dynamics at the level of the industry, its individual sectors, destinations and specific tourism enterprises, make decisions and formulate judgments based on incomplete or limited information, assess risks and apply modern risk management technologies on the preparation of national/regional tourism development plans and organization of tourism activities.

3. To plan and develop the organizational structure of the company, indicators of regulation of the work processes of structural divisions and their interaction, reporting and control systems, employee motivation, taking into account the regulations, standards and regulatory and technical documentation used in the activities of a tourism company for production activities organizing.

4. Coordinate the fulfillment of obligations on accommodation and meals of tourists; transport, visa, excursion, medical (medical and preventive) and other types of services, interaction with tour operators and travel agencies, ticket offices and other organizations, preparation, execution and signing of documents necessary for agreements on the provision of tourist services for high-quality performing tour operator / travel agent functions.

5. Apply knowledge of the characteristics of tourism, geography, history, architecture, religion, attractions, socio-economic and political structure of countries to create a competitive tourism product and promote it in the domestic and international tourism markets, taking into account possible risks, including in new and unfamiliar contexts, in a multicultural and foreign language environment.

6. Manage human resources, maintain a professional and corporate culture, comply with the requirements and standards that are mandatory for an enterprise in the field of hospitality, ensure a rational distribution of functional responsibilities in a team, analyze and regulate production processes.

7. To organize consultations for tourists on the rules of entry (exit) into the country (place) of temporary residence, other tourist formalities, the terms of contracts for the provision of tourist services, the location and rules of visiting museums, tourist facilities and events; to inform about weather conditions at the proposed place of residence, instruct compliance with safety rules in the host country and the rules of tourist insurance.

8. To carry out effective communications, interfunctional interaction with stakeholders, foreign partners in the conditions of multitasking and polylingualism to achieve results in the planning, management of sales, risks and business processes of a tourism enterprise.

Academic activities

The academic activities of the EP are carried out:

within the framework of existing regulatory documents and guidelines in the field of higher education in the field of services,

as a result of the implementation of regulations governing the educational and methodological process at the university;

generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

current and long-term planning of educational and methodological work of the university; coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (EMCD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

monitoring the provision of the educational process with educational and methodological materials, documenting the results;

development of teaching materials; development and implementation of a working curriculum.

Scientific activity

For the implementation of the Educational Program at the faculty there are:

a specialized tourism laboratory;

special tourist equipment and equipment for field expeditionary research;

specialized class / laboratory GDS "SABRE";

GIS laboratory;

communication and technical equipment with appropriate software support.

Research priorities of the Recreational Geography and Tourism Department:

recreational geography and territorial organization of tourism;

ensuring sustainable development of tourism in Kazakhstan;

development of the concept and formation of the foundations of social tourism in Kazakhstan;

assessment of tourist and recreational loads on ecosystems of specially protected natural areas;

development of the geographical basis for the development and territorial organization of agritourism;

planning and organization of ecological tourism in specially protected natural areas of Kazakhstan;

scientific support of digital innovations in the tourism and hospitality industry;

innovative technologies in the field of professional tourism education.

International activities

Academic mobility is implemented on the basis of relevant agreements with partner universities, including foreign ones, in particular, the J. Kodolani University of Applied Sciences (Hungary), Anatolian University and Ankara University (Turkey), Belgorod State University, UrFU, St. Petersburg State University, M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University, RUDN University (Russia), Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) (China), etc. There is an opportunity for academic mobility within the framework of the Sub-Alliance on tourism of the Silk Road universities (Xi'an, Hong Kong, Thailand); the network program of participants TedQual.UNWTO Program (more than 80 leading profile universities in the world), international programs MEVLANA, Erasmus +, etc.
