Purpose

The purpose of the program is to provide teaching highly qualified Simultaneous Interpreters who are able: to realize Simultaneous Interpreting on at the International conferences, negotiations, public presentations, interviews, films using two or more languages ​​in Economics, Politics, Technology and the Film industry; to apply in the process of Interpretation activities methodological principles, strategies and techniques of Simultaneous Interpreting on the basis of compliance with the Standards of Speech etiquette and Professional ethics of a Simultaneous Interpreter in accordance with the requirements of the modern Labor market.

Educational outcomes

-  To demonstrate the level of professional proficiency in a foreign language in accordance with the common European standards for performing specific communication tasks.

-  To carry out oral paragraph-phrasal and bilateral interpretation of monologue and dialogical speech without recording using the compression technique and receiving the equivalent transfer of linguocultural markers (phraseological units, idioms, proverbs, precision vocabulary etc.) from the source language to the target language to ensure interlanguage communication.

-  To apply the tools of the theory and practice of simultaneous interpretation and bilateral interpreting technique in simultaneous conference interpretation from sight with the stages of visual perception in a simultaneous booth, understanding the message from international and national diplomacy, internal decoding of the translation, oral reproduction of a message in the target language and vice versa.

-  To conduct bilateral interpretationof negotiations and interviews, using the technique of probabilistic forecasting and codeswitching from one language to another using universal note-taking to optimize interpretation; to demonstrate good memory, stress resistance and psychological readiness at a given high speed of simultaneous interpretation.

-  To conduct simultaneous interpretation with and without visual support in the simultaneous interpretation booth at public speeches   of participants of international organizations; observing the ethics of an interpreter in international negotiations and interviews, to carry out simultaneous, consecutive and bilateral interpretation based on the theory, practice, strategy and techniques of simultaneous interpreting and the selection of translation equivalents and correspondences to special terms (economical, legal etc.) to achieve constructive communication.

-  To conduct consecutive and simultaneous interpreting negotiations and interview using the technique of abbreviated translation note-taking, whispering with the use of industry vocabulary in business communication to convey the speech utterance of the Receptor; to conduct a pre-translation analysis of diplomatic documentation and political terms in international negotiations.

-  To carry out simultaneous interpretation of public speech at international conferences and negotiations without visual support (by ear), using headphones and a microphone, and relying on the interpreter's perceptual, mnemonic abilities; to apply lexical-semantic and syntactic transformations in accordance with the strategic principles of simultaneous and consecutive translation; to perform bilateral interpretationof international documentation using network resources; to apply in practice the foundations of management psychology for translation and industry activities; to conduct consecutive and bilateral interpreting in industies (oil and gas etc.) for business communication.

-  To carry out simultaneous interpreting, whispering (subsynchronous, whispering) and simultaneous film / video translation, analysis of film discourse, using the film-and-video technique; apply translation transformations for lexical equivalence and correspondence in industry-specific events (economic, legal, etc.); to perform pragmatic adaptation of the original in interpretation; to draw up and commercialize their own scientific developments for implementation in translation practice.

-  To plan and organize scientific projects and research in the field of simultaneous interpreting technology in the context of modern trends in translation studies; to carry out the commercialization of scientific developments and its legal support for bringing to the market; to apply the methodology of philosophy to conduct scientific research and the theory of management psychology to analyze management processes, relationships, and phenomena in specialized training.

- To conduct research on topical problems of the theory and practice of simultaneous interpretation: listening comprehension, generating an interpretation text in a stressful situation, storing information in short-term memory and identifying effective methods of interpretation based on a critical analysis of trends in modern translation science; to carry out business communication in a foreign language; to design educational activity based on   the didactics of higher education using modern translation technologies; to analyze the patterns of development of the philosophy of science for the assesment and systematization of scientific knowledge.

- To apply the fundamentals of higher education pedagogy, upbringing theory and education management in teaching courses on the technique of simultaneous and consecutive interpretation, the use of a simultaneous interpretation booth, the specifics of translation recording, methods of equivalent translation of paremiological, precision, terminological and industry vocabulary, the problems of interlingual inconsistencies in the translation of films, the rules of international speech etiquette and professional ethics of an interpreter; to systematize the structural and functional features of the native and foreign languages ​​for the development of linguistic and speech competencies in accordance with international standarts and the analysis of translation problems in the context of modern trends; to perceive and understand by ear business information in a foreign language.

- To conduct classes on the theory and practice of simultaneous interpreting in a higher educational institution using simultaneous interpreting equipment, information technology and innovative teaching methods; to find equivalents of phraseological units and idiomatic expressions in the translating language; to modify and stylize the results of the translation process for pragmatic purposes with their subsequent documentation (patenting, copyrighting) for commercial gain.

- To develop a program for personal development: to self-develop intellectually; to improve in the study of a foreign language, its oral and written forms of expression for professional, scientific and intercultural activities; to improve the level of proficiency in a foreign language for business communication, scientific, and professional purposes; to expand the philosophical, ideological and methodological foundations of science with his own developments; to improve the psychological training of the simultaneous interpreter; to expand background knowledge and active stock of terms in various industries (oil, legal, economic, film industry, etc.); understand the social significance of their profession and look for ways to optimize simultaneous translation, taking into account the national and cultural characteristics of languages and mentality, contained in idioms, phraseological units, proverbs and precision words; to practice management psychology with the analysis of psychological conditions in translation activities; to maintain the prestige and culture of a lector through the analysis and self-assessment of teaching activities.

Academic activities of the EP are carried out:

-within the framework of existing normative documents and methodological recommendations in the sphere of higher education in the humanities,

- as a result of the implementation of normative documents regulating the educational and methodological process in the university;

- generalization and dissemination of new normative and legal acts related to methodical work;

- the current and perspective planning of the University educational-methodicalwork, thecoordinationoftheeducational-methodical complex of discipline (EMCD) of the department for the conformity to the normative-legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- Monitoring of the provision of the educational process with the didactic-methodic materials, documenting of the results;

- development of educational-methodical materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum;

-academic policy and integrity rules of the university.
