The series of traditional master classes at the UNESCO Chair, International Journalism and Media in Society continued with a meeting between Gulmira Arbaeva, co-founder of the International Centre for Economic Literacy Foundation, media expert and PR consultant, and students, master's and doctoral students in international journalism and public relations.

Financial communication, business information and personal entrepreneurial competences help to make well-informed decisions about business, entrepreneurship and personal income. Financial literacy, the main parameters of which was presented by Gulmira Arbaeva, a guest of the university, provides for the ability not only to earn well, but also to spend well. The speaker has an extensive experience in journalism, in various years Gulmira was the leading correspondent of the Kazakhstan business press. The Kazakhstani specialist is also responsible for communications and PR promotion projects for the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE). It turns out that in spite of the fact that the target audience of business communications is businessmen, ordinary people, who are often not familiar with economics, are eager to learn the basics of financial literacy. After all, without increased consumer education, the quality of life will not improve.

In her presentation, the media expert and PR specialist explained what structures form the basis of Kazakhstan's financial hierarchy and presented the most important methods and means of achieving social stability through financial instruments. Thousands of business activities a day are conducted in the country, which are reflected both in journalism and accompanied by information from PR-specialists. After the interesting overview the participants of the master-class asked questions. They inquired how to write about complex economic processes so that people were interested in what the state has done for preservation of financial well-being of citizens, whether it is necessary to buy shares at an exchange, what are guarantees? The guest of the virtual meeting commented in detail on these and other questions.

As an example of very professional work the speaker of the master class named a domestic portal LSM.kz – the Kazakhstan news and analytics in economy, business, finance, by the way, where the basic part of staff are graduates of faculty of journalism of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

It was organised by associate professor, candidate of philological sciences Alexander Viktorovich Rozhkov, who once taught Gulmira Nuralievna journalism, because she – too graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Her career has been successful and serves as an example to today's students of the university.
