The Department of the Far East of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held an essay contest on the knowledge of the Korean language. The event was financed by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty. For the first time, all students of Korean studies took part in the competition.

For the main cash prizes fought both senior and junior courses on equal terms. The total number of students in the Korean department is more than 100, and another 30 students are on internships at universities in South Korea for academic mobility programs. KazNU has signed over forty cooperation agreements with educational organizations of the Republic of Korea. Of these, thirty universities are the most active partners.

Testing for knowledge of the Korean language was conducted by foreign teachers and representatives of the Almaty Korean Center of Education at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Kazakhstan. They also gave an assessment of the written essay on the topic “My student life in KazNU”.

As always, the best won and they were all awarded cash prizes. Grand Prix was won by a 4th year student Rosa Ulan.
