According to a study of the authoritative world ranking the «Times Higher Education» (THE), Al-Farabi KazNU, the only HEI in Kazakhstan, to enter the group of 251-300 best Universities in Asia.

When compiling the University rankings, such indicators were taken into account: the effectiveness of the University’s scientific and educational activities; level of teaching and research; publication and citation of scientific articles; international cooperation and internationalization and etc.

In the ranking of THE were represented 417 universities from 27 countries in Asia. The top ten included five Universities in China, two University from Singapore and South Korea, and one from Japan. The first place is occupied by Tsinghua University, the National University of Singapore is ranked second, the third place is occupied by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the most-represented in the ranking are universities of Japan, which amounts to 103.
