The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kulyash Shamshidinova visited Al-Farabi KazNU in the framework of her working visit to Almaty.

The schedule of the Minister’s visit was very busy, she has visited the Situation Management Center, Technopark, «Keremet» Student Service Center, «Sanaly Urpaq» project office, Scientific Library, and the University Museums, and she got acquainted with the University’s research, education and innovation activities. 

In the course of the visit to the Student Service Center, KazNU’s Rector, Academician Galym Mutanov informed the Minister in detail about the introduction of IT-technologies in the scientific and educational process, the use of cloud technologies in managing campus infrastructure, the use of smart technologies and Big Data to form an analytical system. He highlighted that the University is actively introducing digital technologies, and actively developing cooperation with the world's leading high-tech Companies, which have opened their Centers and Laboratories at KazNU.

«We have formed an integrated management system for all business processes at the University. Thanks to the «Univer» information system, today all educational processes, procedures for the distribution of vacant educational grants and places in dormitories are transparent», - said Galym Mutanov. He noted that KazNU has introduced new methods and technologies for assessing students' achievements, which remove corruption risks in the teacher-student relationship system. On the basis of the «Univer» system the «E-Services» project is being implemented, which allows to quickly and efficiently receive more than 500 educational, social, medical, and other services on «a one window» principle. 

The Head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kulyash Shamshidinova, highly appreciated the University’s achievements and potential and, noted the need for active participation in the implementation of state development programs, including «Digital Kazakhstan». At the Technopark she got acquainted with scientific projects and developments of students and young scientists, and at the Medical Center with a system of diagnostics and the provision of services. 

During the meeting of the Minister with the leadership of the University, the issues of further development of higher education and science, as well as steps to improve its competitiveness have been discussed.
