Based on the al-Farabi Kazakh National University under the leadership of Academician G.M. Mutanov in the period from December 26 to December 28, 2017 International Conference "Inverse Problems in Finance, Economics and Life Sciences" was held. The conference was held jointly with the Research Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics at the KazNU. (Russia), Novosibirsk State University (Russia), as well as the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (China), the Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (China) and the Chinese Mathematical Society.

A huge gratitude to the rector of al-Farabi KazNU, academician G.M. Mutanov, director of the Institute, S.I. Kabanykhin and Professor M.A. Bektemessov for support and cooperation! Thanks to you, the Winter School-Seminar for young scientists on backward and incorrect tasks in natural science has been held for the fifth year on the basis of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of KazNU named after al-Farabi.

The conference was held with the purpose of inviting world-renowned scientists who are interested in the latest achievements in the development of modern numerical methods for solving inverse and ill-posed problems in various directions, ready to share the results of their scientific work; as well as young professionals who are beginning the path of the researcher, studying the problems of applied mathematics.

More than 70 scientists in the field of mathematics and mathematical modeling took part in the International Scientific Conference. Including 20 scientists-representatives of Russian universities, 10 scientists from Kyrgyz universities and more than 40 scientists-representatives of leading Kazakhstan universities and scientific organizations. The conference heard interesting reports of the most promising areas in solving the inverse and ill-posed tasks of the economy, finance and the life sciences.
