On April 21, 2018, the Faculty of Oriental Studies took part in the annual general celebration of Nauryz "Welcome, Az-Nauryz!", which was honored on the campus of al-Farabi KazNU. Our respected teachers, as well as students of the Middle East and South Asia Department, put on Kazakh national costumes and welcomed all guests in a brightly decorated Yurta. Among the guests of honor of the department in the celebration of Nauryz were invited professors from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Egypt Dr. Amir Chenari and Dr. Yunus Abulfutuh Sabri. Also, the Director of the Cultural Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Said Javad Jalili and his family also visited the national celebration and congratulated the Kazakh people on the great holiday of Nauryz. Mr. Sayd Javad Jalili noted that the holiday of Nauryz is also celebrated in Iran, and thanked for the opportunity to feel the atmosphere of celebrating the New Year far from home, as well as get acquainted with the traditions of celebrating Nauryz in Kazakhstan. The hospitality of the Kazakh people has received warm gratitude not only from the family of the Iranian diplomat, but also from the Turkish, Korean and Japanese guests of the Yurta of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. With interest the guests inspected the ornaments of the Kazakh house, admired the calligraphy of our Arabists and Iranists, Kazakh handmade products made of koshma, natural leather, miniatures on the Kazakh theme, and made memorable photos.
