On December 3, 2020, a round table “Abai and the Eastern world” was held in an online format, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great poet Abai Kunanbayev. The event was organized by the faculty of Oriental studies of al-Farabi Kazakh National University and R. B. Suleimenov Institute of Oriental studies.

The round table was attended by Abai scholars, orientalists, students and undergraduates. The event discussed the spiritual harmony of the great poet Abai and the Eastern world.

The round table was held under the leadership of the Director of the Institute of Oriental studies named after R. B. Suleimenov, doctor of philology, professor Duken Masimkhanuly.

Presentations were made by the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University PhD Yktiyar Moldatoreuly, Director of the Centre "Turan-Iran" of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University , PhD in philology, professor Islam Zhemeney, PhD in Philology made reports, Asan Omarov, Senior Lecturer of the Middle East and South Asia Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, candidate of philological sciences Galiya Kambarbekova, correspondent-translator of news site “Pars Today”, promoter of Abay's works in the Persian land Omarkhanova Gauhar Jumagazykyzy, head of department "Ancient literature and Turkology" of M. O. Auezov Institute of literature and art, candidate of philological sciences Torali Kydyr, orientalist, PhD Bolatbek Batyrkhan and shared their valuable views.
