On October 23, 2020, the Persian language department of the Department of Near East and South Asia of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi KazNU, together with the World Literature Service of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as part of the celebration of the 175^thanniversary of Abai Kunanbayev, held a literary evening on the theme "Abai and Oriental Poets". This event was attended by teachers and students of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, as well as young specialists of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Participants read poems by oriental poets and shared new research in this area.

Senior Lecturer of the Department of Middle East and South Asia PhD B.Batyrkhan spoke about Firdausi and Abay, Senior Lecturer A. Boranbaeva spoke about the contribution of the Persian language as a language of poetry to world literature, Senior Lecturer PhD G. Kambarbekova spoke about general topics on which Abai also wrote oriental poets, doctoral student K. Zhetpisbaeva read poems by Saadi Shirazi on the topic of humanity and politeness, and a 4-year student U. Abdurakhimova read the rubai Omar Khayyam and talked about the deep meanings of rubai. In addition, young specialists of the National Library M. Okap and A. Rakhimova read the rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam and Turkic poets, thus decorating the literary evening.

As part of this event, specialists from the World Literature Service of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented a virtual book exhibition "Oriental Poets". The head of the World Literature Service S.T. Tuyakova, the host of the evening G. Bakhina, as well as all the specialists of this service created a favorable condition for holding the evening at the highest level.
