British Council project at KazNU

Within the framework of the British Council initiative "Going Global Partnership Program" SOAS University, University of London launched a project with two leading universities of Kazakhstan - KazNU named after al-Farabi (Faculty of International Relations and Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science) and ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov (Faculty of International Relations).

The project is being co-ordinated by Professor Bhavna Dave from SOAS, which also involves some colleagues from the Department of Politics and International Affairs at the University of London. Online lectures on topics covering Research design and methodology were given by PhD Tolga Sinmazdemir - Senior Lecturer in Political Methodology, Phil Clark - Professor of International Politics at SOAS University of London, PhD Rochana Baipai from the Faculty of Politics and International Studies, PhD Felix Berensketter is Department Head and Senior Lecturer in International Relations.The project is aimed at improving the theoretical and methodological approaches of young researchers in Kazakhstan (PhD and undergraduates). Young scientists were students of the leading lecturers of SOAS University of London for 3 months.

From 11/28/2022 to 11/30/2022, as part of the project, Professor Bhavna Dave held offline lectures for doctoral and undergraduate students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science and the Faculty of International Relations. Lectures were held in room 226 of the Faculty of International Relations.On November 30, after a lecture by Bhavna Dave, a scientific seminar was held by a doctoral student of the Department of Political Science and Political Education "8D03104 - Political Science" Madi Yeszhanuly Omarov on the topic "Decentralization of state power in Ukraine: political analysis of the transformation model."

Based on the results of the project, it is planned to develop a strategy for further expanding cooperation between universities in Britain and Kazakhstan.
