On March 19, 2021, within the framework of the project "Brighten the corner where you are" the teacher of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, E. R. Kogai and the first-year master's student Li Nana held a curatorial hour on the topic "Culture of the peoples of the world: celebrating the New Year in China". The educational event was held online on the MS Teams platform with the participation of 2nd-year students studying in the specialty "Russian language and literature".

The master's student told about the origins of the most important and longest – lasting holiday in China-the Spring Festival, which is known all over the world as the traditional Chinese New Year. Special attention was paid to the traditions and customs associated with the celebration of the New Year in China, dishes of national cuisine, and symbols of the red color. The students were very interested in the story about the tradition of arranging fireworks to scare away evil spirits and attract happiness and peace to the family; about the red light festival, which marks the end of the Spring Festival.

The master's student accompanied her story with a slide presentation, videosketches, and photos. At the end of the curatorial hour, students were able to ask questions related to the peculiarities of the New Year celebration in China, and also congratulated each other and teachers on the upcoming holiday of Nauryz.
