Throughout Thatcher's work as prime minister, several events occurred that radically changed the life of the country: from the miners' strike in 1981 to the explosion of the Grand Hotel in Brighton, in which Thatcher herself almost died with her husband. The key problem was the Falklands War, which Thatcher actually resolved by ordering to sink the Argentine cruiser, after which Argentina had practically no chance, and Great Britain emerged victorious from that battle. After a few years, the world is completely turned over: the Berlin Wall is destroyed, the USSR has broken up. After the dismissal of British Deputy Prime Minister Jeffrey Howe, Thatcher's authority in the party is undermined, new elections for the post of prime minister of the country begin. Margaret Thatcher announces her resignation.
