English song lovers’ club had its planned session on the 09.12.2020. The meeting was held by the senior lecturers, Orazayeva G.A. and Mussanova G.A. of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Philology and World Literature Faculty. The students of the third year took part and they were very active. According to our plan,the participants spoke about the most famous English rock group “Beatles”. Binazarov Damir prepared slides about the group. He gave the full information about the group: the members, albums, songs and biography. Makhambessaliyev Dauren told us about the sad death of their singer. They heard the songs “Michelle” that was devoted to young steward who was trampled down by the Beatles’ fans. The students said the song “Imagine” taught us to be kind, to live in a peace. A very popular song was nominated as the song of the year twice. The history of this song was connected with the difficult period of D. Lennon's wife, Yoko Ono. During the Second World War, when she and her brother were starving, Yoko played the game "Imagine" to distract him from the hunger that tormented him. The song and its history made a huge impression on the students.
