ON THE POET AND THE CITIZEN

 

From May 14 to 28, a series of events dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Olzhas Suleimenov’s birth, the outstanding poet, novelist, thinker and the year of support for children's and youth reading in Kazakhstan was held.

The organizers were the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the team of the Scientific and Educational project "Epoch and Personality "with the support of the Scientific and Expert Council of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, the Academy of Children's Books "ALTAIR", the Public Association "Peace through Spirituality".

All events were held online on the Zoom platform, which made it possible to attract a large number of participants from different cities of Kazakhstan and abroad (Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan).

 

On May 14, the International Round Table "Earth, bow to Man!" was held, which opened a series of events dedicated to the poet's anniversary. Shaimerdenova Nursulu Zhamalbekovna , the Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty) made a welcoming speech.

Buribayeva Mainura Abiltayevna , the head of the scientific and educational project "Epoch and Personality", Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU (Nur-Sultan) made a report about the meetings of different years. Shaimerdenova Mendyganym Jamalbekovna’s speech, the candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor of T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, academician MAIN (Almaty), was devoted to the history of the creation of the poem " Earth, bow to man!", the theme of space in the works of O. Suleimenov. Zhanar Malikova’s report (Nur-Sultan), Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the EAGI, teacher of the Russian language of kindergarten No. 9 "Nurshashu" and lyceum school No. 72, touched upon the modern school curriculum in the aspect of studying the works of O. Suleimenov.

The participants enthusiastically read O. Suleimenov’s poems, talked about his contribution to the culture and literature, public life of Kazakhstan. Natalia V. Dmitriuk (Moscow), Doctor of Philology, Professor, in her speech pointed out the importance of Olzhas Suliemenov and his books: "Asia", "The Code of the Word" in etymological research.
