On February 12, 2021, at the Faculty of Philology and World Languages, Doctor of Philological Sciences Nursulu Zhamalbekovna Shaimerdenova delivered her lecture on the topic "The history of words in glosses and texts” within Professor Hour project.

The professor focused on three key questions:

1) mentors at school, university, postgraduate / doctoral studies;

2) research topic: from the idea of ​​searching for gloss to the analysis of written sources;

3) problem sites in the research paradigm of modern Kazakhstani linguistics.

The lecturer began her speech with a dedication to mentors and teachers, then presented her observations of the life of words and terms in diachrony, focusing on the unique phenomenon of the text - glosses, which witness the search for the semantics of words by scribes and translators and reflect linguistic contacts and historical consciousness.
