THE VI CONGRESS OF SOCIOLOGISTS OF KAZAKHSTAN WILL BE HELD IN ASTANA
On 27-28 September, 2018 the VI Congress of sociologists of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan will take place in Astana. The event is organized by the Ministry of Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan (ASK).
Representatives of scientific and academic and expert-analytical communities, foreign experts from the United States, Japan, Turkey, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and other countries, members of the Parliament of the RK, representatives of NGOs and state bodies will take part in the Congress.
The newly elected vice-president of the International Sociological Association (ISA), doctor of sociology, professor of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and editor of the journal ISA Current Sociology Eloise Martin will be an honored guest of the Congress.
According to the organizers, the VI Congress of Sociologists is devoted to the theme "Modernization strategy of Kazakhstan in sociological dimension: new values, a new coordinate system, a new time". Participants of the Congress will discuss topical issues of the state and development of Kazakhstani sociological science at the present stage.
Within the two-day Congress there will be a plenary session, panel sessions, master classes, seminars and trainings. There will be an awarding of representatives of the sociological community, awarding diplomas to new academicians of the Academy of Sociologists of Kazakhstan.
The Congress of Sociologists of Kazakhstan is in line with the key patterns of the last World Congress of Sociologists, which was held in the Toronto, Canada in July 2018. In Toronto urban issues became one of the major topic in discussions, and this is in line with the plenary session of the VI Congress of sociologists of Kazakhstan «Astana as a place of success: a new city, new ideas, a new reality in the center of Eurasia». For Kazakhstan, this is of particular importance from the point of view of modernization processes, in which the modernization of the territory takes the leading place.
One of the dialogue platforms will be dedicated to the Program of spiritual modernization «Ruhani Zhangyru» in the context of world trends», where issues of value orientations of Kazakhstani people, participation of civic society in the implementation of the Program will be discussed.
Also, during the Congress Regional Project of UNDP office in Kazakhstan and the concept of EXPO-2025 (Osaka, Japan) - Society 5.0. (a new stage of human evolution in a result of the development of digital technologies) will be presented.
By the results of the Congress a special issue of the ASK journal «Әлеуметтану - Sociology» will be published.

September 27, 2018 The Forum of junior sociologists will take place at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University: master classes and workshops for masters and PhD students, young researchers, presentations of research of young sociologists.
Trainings for representatives of local executive bodies and regional media will take place at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The opening ceremony of the VI Congress of Sociologists of Kazakhstan will take place in the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 28, 2018.
