ASSYLBEKOVA AIZHAN ASSYLBEKOVNA

Aizhan Assylbekova was born on July 26, 1983 in Taskesken district of East Kazakhstan region.

In 1999 she entered and in 2003 graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. In the same year she entered at the Department of Physical Geography to get her Master degree in "Geography" and graduated with distinction. Under the direction of Professor G.M. Dzhanaleeva she defended her master thesis on "Алматы қаласының ауа бассейнінің ластануының адам денсаулығына тигізер әсері".

In 2007 she enrolled on the program PhD, profession "Geography" (supervisor was candidate of geographical science, associate professor N.N. Kerimbay, foreign consultant was professor of the University of Dortmund (Germany) Burghard Meyer).

In 2010 she finished her studies with distinction, and became the first Kazakh PhD in the field of Geography.

In the period of 2010-2013 worked as a lecturer in the Department of Cartography and Geomorphology.

In the period of 2012-2013 she took up a post of deputy head of the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics on Scientific and Innovational Service and International Relations.

From 2013 to date she is a vice-dean of the faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences on Scientific and Innovational Service and International Relations.

In 2013 she won a scholarship from post doctoral program EURASIA-PACIFIC UNINET-

Technology Scholarship - Incoming Technology Grants East, Central and South Asia in the University of Salzburg (Austria), on the theme “Remote Sensing” (scientific advisor professor Josef Strobl).

A. Assylbekova is well aware of such geoinformatic programs as MapІnfo, Arcvіew, GeoTransformer MapІnfo, ArcGІS, GeoTransformer, ENVІ that are mandatory for the study for students of the faculty. In addition, she teaches above mentioned items not only in native Kazakh language, but also in Russian and English which makes it possible to extend learning opportunities.

At the same time, she successfully combines her teaching career with her research work in scientific projects. A specific example is an international scientific project JPCR Geoinformatics: Managing Energy, Resources, Environment - GEM, TEMPUS where she is a responsible executive. Under this project she enhances her skills in different universities of the world.

She participates in the implementation of the five basic, applied and international projects. She is a joint project coordinator of Erasmus Mundus “gSmart - Spatial ICT Infrastructures for Smart Places” (2013-2017).
