About project

“gSmart - Spatial ICT Infrastructures for Smart Places” Erasmus Mundus scholarships are mainly for Al-Farabi KazNU students from Bachelor to PhD and Post-Doc levels, as well as academics to study/research/teach/work in one of the gSmart partner institutions in Europe.

Building on sustained links between EU and Central Asian partners established through educational programmes, this program aims at:

  • a broad thematic scope and geographic reach;
  • building educational and professional capacity and competence at partner region HEIs and thus,
  • educating the next generation of experts for Central Asia through integration of educational practice in Central Asia and Europe.

The application is opening for students, interested in learning or improving own knowledge and professional skills in GIS, RS and GNSS for using at the following target disciplines: Geography, Geodesy, Architecture & Planning, (spatial) Social Sciences, Resource Management, Geology, Water & Environmental Studies, Agriculture, Regional Economics, Transportation, Civil Engineering and is open to students and graduates of other 'spatially oriented' disciplines. The project duration is four years and individual mobility grants will be available until July 2017.

We should mention that one of the main requirements to applicants is good skills in one of the foreign languages: English, German, Spanish or Romanian. The site has all information about partner universities from Europe and Central Asia, their academic programs, duration and mobility requirements.
