Upon completion of this educational program it is expected that undergraduates will be able:
ON1. to master and develop the concept of interdisciplinary knowledge in hydrological science for the purpose of application in educational and research activities;
ON2. to assess the state of water resources, the regime and quality of water in natural and artificial reservoirs, with assessment of their potential as source of water supply for economic sectors, the population of the country, obtaining biological resources and meeting the conditions for ensuring the environmental safety of the river water basins;
ON3. carry out teaching activities in the disciplines of hydrology and earth sciences conducting classroom studies, laboratory research, and during the field practice using information technology;
ON4. to apply methods for assessing, forecasting and optimizing water supply scenarios for natural and economic systems of Kazakhstan for the near and distant future;
ON5. to make climate forecasts based on natural, processed databases, in order to ensure environmental safety and analysis of research works;
ON6. to develop and implement preventive measures to reduce the danger of mountain slopes, high mountain, moraine and glacial lakes; to carry out works on the forced descent of snow avalanches to survey, record, assess the potential danger of territories exposed to mudflows, avalanches and landslides;
ON7. to give forecast for the optimization of water supply scenarios of natural and economic systems of Kazakhstan for the near and distant future, as well as analyze the hydrological risks in natural economic systems: theory and methods of assessment and management;
ON8. to create forecasts for water resources assessment based on systematized database, and do mathematical, balance, integral, model calculations for designing and determining the sustainability of hydrotechnical installations for environmental safety purposes;
ON9. to apply the methods of system analysis to study hydrological phenomena and processes when considering water objects as complex natural systems;
ON10. to use theories and methods of constructive hydrology in the field of natural water management for interests of the population, ecology, production and research works;
ON11. to make recommendations to projects, events, as well as on the timing work of other departments, enterprises, organizations for the protection of the population, objects and territories in the areas served, prepare the necessary expert opinions;
ON12. to demonstrate originality and creativity in team while carrying out scientific activities in particular hydrological direction in educational and research activities.
