The department staff takes part at the researches carried out under fundamental and applied projects. There are five project from the republic source and two ongoing international projects at the department:

• The NATO «Science for Peace » project «Legacy of uranium extraction and environmental security of Central Asian Republics» (2006-2010);
• ISTC K-1474 project «Environmental impact of the natural uranium deposits and technological works of uranium extraction and processing on the transboundary regions of the River Shu valley in southern Kazakhstan and adjacent region of Kyrgyzstan» (2008-2011).
